City Talk has hosted fundraisers, including t-shirt sales and Speed Dating to raise funds for the following programs. However, we continually seek help for the deficit. The funds raised are contributed to City Talk’s One More Chance and Future Leaders Apprenticeship program. The following programs are designed to assist in the revitalization of Detroit.
The One More Chance Program is dedicated to assisting non-violent, ex-offenders with basic job training skills, finding jobs in the community and providing transitional housing. The potential applicant is required to complete an application, do a background check, and write a personal statement identifying their goals. At the end of the six-week program the participant will be able to write a resume, have clearly defined career goals and objectives, and the basic requirements of interviewing for employment. This program helps reduce recidivism by encouragement, spiritual guidance, employment and support.
The Future Leaders Apprenticeship Program is a program developed to promote guidance for the City of Detroit youth. Team members provide through demonstration, instruction, challenge and encouragement what it takes to become successful. The mentor and the young person develop a special bond of mutual commitment while learning how to become an entrepreneur, journalist, teacher, doctor or business professional. During the program, the selected students will learn how to write a successful business plan, resume, and important interviewing skills essential in today’s society. The students will also work on creating a monthly student edition of City Talk Magazine to be distributed to youth in the Metropolitan Detroit Area. This program assist youth with their career path and improving the overall image of today’s youth.
For additional information or to participate in either program, please complete the following contact us form and guidelines and an application will be forwarded to you.
